All of a sudden I am getting tons of pop-ups, any suggestions for a good free pop-up blocker or even a really good anti-viral, hell anything that will stop all these ads

1. Dump IE if you haven't already. (Use Firefox or Safari instead.)
2. Install Ad-Aware and Spybot, and update them both.
3. Reboot your machine into Safe Mode (F8 after the POST but before the Windows logo) and log in under the Administrator account.
4. Have Spybot and Ad-Aware both run deep scans, one at a time. Let them delete the crap they find.
5. Reboot into normal mode.
If the pop-ups persist, run HijackThis and post the log here.

What kind of pop ups are they? Are they the regular ones with one ad in them, or are they to web pages, specifically stuff like system doctor? If its the system doctor its a virus, you're pretty much screwed, its almost impossible to remove, reformat is the easiest way. I have it, but it seems to have stopped.
If its the normal ads, then get firefox and get a few extensions like adblock, noscript (not for the computer illiterate), and some assorted pop up blockers. Thats what I have on mine and I see almost no ads or pop ups (besides the virus one).
