FS/FT PS2 Fat *Non-Working DVD-ROM*

I have a PS2 Fat that I am wanting to get rid of. It works perfectly EXCEPT for the DVD-ROM, aka it starts up and will go to the browser and everything, but it won't read game discs for some reason.

At one point I had it taken apart to clean the laser, and i had the drive entirely pulled out of the system, and one of my brothers tried to put it together while I was gone for a bit and broke the connector for the DVD ribbon cable off of the bottom of the motherboard, only the brown part that moves and he only broke the hinges. The connector still clicks in, but I'm thinking that this is why it won't work, I'm not sure though.

The sale is the system, the RCA-plug cord, and a power cord. No controllers are included. I want to get rid of it, so I'm asking $50 o.b.o.
