Screen lights

Ok I was thinking today about how many people use the LED mod on their PSone LCD screens. I noticed from some pics that the light is concentrated around the LEDs themselves and not spread evenly. In the dark I was thinking that this would get annoying so I started to devise my plans.
I figured that since light can be bent and shaped and stuff, why not vaccume form a rigid surface in translucent plastic. That way the light is then bent and moved from its original position. If you add maybe three together (almost transparent plastic the more layers you use) then you would disperse the light over more of the screen. Therefor you get a better picture since the light is over everything and not in just four spots (depending on how many LEDs you use).
What do you think and can this be done?

The psone lcd already has 2 layers of difusing plastic.

true, although I agree with makuraken, the light isn't spread out evenly enough.....if only there was some way to get an led in the middle or somehow make the whole thing as bright and clear as the cathode tube is without using up so much power......kudos to anyone who figures out and tests a solution to this problem

Edit: now that I look at my GCp's screen (turned on, obviously

) I see that the light is diffused pretty well, although it's still not as bright as the cathode tube lighting is

Did not know that about the PSone LCD. I assumed that something would kinda HAVE to have some kind of difusing device. However, from what I saw with my friends, I just did not like how the lighting was. So I want to change that with my PSone LCD(once I buy one). I am already getting some of the math and physics of light worked out with various materials. I am trying to figure out which one has the best scatter rate or something.
Anywho, will keep you posted.

Anybody ever heard of light pipes? My dad works a bit with them and he was going to have a guy design one for me, but I decided I liked the fluorescent better.
With a light pipe you could light the entire screen with one LED! How cool would that be?!

Yeah but EL sheets are dim and have tints of green and pink in them.
Wish they came in bright white color.

um they do come in white now. They sel on eBay I think
