If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.
Okay, this is long overdue. I've been meaning to get this collection of information up here for a while now.
I got a 9.2" Intec Xbox 360 LCD screen a few weeks ago from a friend that didn't want it. (W00t!!!) I plan to use it for my GC laptop. I've taken lots of pictures, and I have gathered a lot of information on it that I am now sharing with you all. Let's get right to it...
This screen may be LED moddable... I hope it is, because that backlight draws A LOT of current, and it's powered from the 12V line... which kinda kills my whole "the Gamecube only needs 5V with a small step-up for the 12V line" argument. I guess I either have to figure out a way to LED mod this screen, or I just need to get a slightly more powerful 12V step-up to power the backlight as well. *shrugs*
Almost any screen is LED moddable, the problem is that some are harder than others. I'd guess you'd need at least 6 bright LEDs for it to look good. I LED modded a 7 inch LCD with 6 LEDs and it looks good, but I likely would have been good with 4 if I had given them full power.
Wow! Your posts always seem to pack an obscene amount of info Nice job! Can't wait to see your GC laptop, should give me some inspiration (I need to do a GC portable).
Wow man, awesome compilation! Seeing as there seems to be a huge interest in building laptop portables as of late, this should be a huge help to those looking to do so. And on a side note, when's that GC laptop of yours gonna be done?
