Junk or my new project?

Post by Skiggy »

Okay, I enjoyed the N64 a lot. Although after a few years of being in a box becuase of a newly found addiction to the gamecube, I wanted to play super smash bros. I pull it out of the box, plug it in, turn on the power AND......nothing. Nothing, nothing at all, I cannot get the thing to start. So my question is, is this an easy fix or a pile of junk?

Nothing? No red light on the LED even? Kinda vague message. I'd recommend checking if the jumper/ram pack is seated right.

sort of like what happened with me when I opened a tested n64 and it didn't work, so I fiddled with the cables and it worked, so try that.
also see if it is probably a faulty power supply or a screwed over n64 mobo...
(that would be if the red led is not working...)

if any of my tips don't work, go to the n64 troubleshooting guide by g-force (i think) and try those things...

Master of Portables - He didn't say it was a N64p, but a N64 - unmodded.

Change the fuse in the mains plug - usually the last thing you check, but often that! If the fuse has blown or cracked, you won't get any power!

If that doesn't work, let's be honest, you can buy a new one for a few quid these days from e-bay.
