I work on a girls site and she wants "realistic" Lightining in the foreground similar to the snowflake things you alway's see on myspace. My idea was to edit a lightning video frame by frame as still pictures with transparent backgrounds (so it is just lightning and clouds.) Then make the pictures into a giant animated gif?

Will this work?

Personally, that sounds really ugly, and I'm also an experienced website designer.

I recommend making (if you can) a flash header of a continuing loop of lightning. Much more attractive and Web 2.0-esque.
