Ok to start off I"m a millimeter away from just scraping my whole XP installation, the only reason I haven't is Warcraft, I'd like to get it back up and running.
Now to describe my problem. Namely I have no aceess to port 21, 6112 or 3724. Yes I have no FTP or a way to connect to warcraft. I can't use the Blizzard repair tool, I've reinstalled WoW, I've reset my cable modem, I've had the modem replaced with a newer model.
The only things I can't do are as followed, flush dns (tells me there was an exception), repairing windows networking stacks, or reinstalling windows. I've gone so are as to install WoW on another laptop that is running Ubuntu, but that's stuck in the mud at the moment, so until Thursday night I can't do anything with WoW on linux.
If anyone has a way to get windows to stop sucking and start working, one that doesn't require me to reinstall I'd love to try it and see if it works. I'd like to get back and even try the new Burning Crusade (now that I have it).
Thanks.

So doesn't the laptop run it either? cause if it doesn't its most likey not a case of microsoft suckking, Its the fact that you need to forward ports. www.portforward.com will guide you through everything for your modem and your game, It has everything.
Just about to recommend this if you are behind a router. Otherwise, turn off any firewalls and such.parkie wrote:So doesn't the laptop run it either? cause if it doesn't its most likey not a case of microsoft suckking, Its the fact that you need to forward ports. www.portforward.com will guide you through everything for your modem and your game, It has everything.
Yep I've set the router to forward and enabled port triggering. I still can't connect. And as this is a Linksys router I have no access to any port below 100 so I don't know if 21 is closed or open.
Edit - Problem fixed. I installed Ubuntu 7.04 on the laptop an hour ago. I got WoW working under Ubuntu a few hours before that at school so I've got almost everything resolved.
