Great idea for a DS and PSP game!

Post by benol »

What if there was a DS and PSP game RPG with MMORPG elements, but it was played over LAN instead of the internet? People would gather in places to play, and the PSP and DS versions could even be compatible with each othe. What do you think?
PM me for DS friend codes. PLEASE!

DS and PSP connectivity would be awesome. Even if its only something like pictochat. And how about an online MMORPG, have that work for DS and PSP, but have the graphics toned down a bit for the DS, but have the PSP as good as possible for it.

I think people would just female of the dog species at each other saying DS FTW and PSP PWNS JOO. But it is a good idea. I would buy the game.

No, you'd have it so that they are both playing the same game (info they send to and receive from the server is the same), they just render it on their screen(s) to the best of their abilities, theres no reason for anyone to know who is on DS and who is on PSP.

Pretty cool idea, we'll never see any connectivity between DS and PSP lol.

No GP2X version? Shame on you.

Do they have you automatically an elf on World of Warcrack if you have an AMD processor? No, that would make people not like the game, it would be for both systems to play together, not compete with each other.
GP2x doesn't have Wifi or internet built in, how can it play without buying other stuff?

'other stuff' could be as simple as a cable, or as complex as possibly wireless.... gp2x has has been putting its usb host to good use lately as far as networking. (I really hate when it looks like I'm on gp2x's side for anything)

actually, I would really like to see an elite/privateer/x/freelancer type game on DS especially, but gp2x or psp would be nice too. (ds more because of the possibility of a nice, skinnable touch-based ship interface)

now I don't want one bad enough to heavily research making one, which would take years, but with the DS's advancements as far as DLDI and homebrewed wifi, it's not impossible. (but then, nothing really is truly impossible, is it?)

Yeah, but you might as well play on your computer if you have to be strapped to it. DS and PSP could get on at any unsecured wireless internet connection, which would allow many more people to play. And the GP2x has a smaller user base, so less people would benefit from it, so it would be better to just make it between DS and PSP.

I don't have the numbers, or even close, but I can't imagine that the numbers of people with downgraded PSPs, DS backup devices, and gp2x units are all that far away from eachother--could be totally wrong. I'm also pretty sure that you're right about 2x having the least users, but unless it's a retail product, it's not going to reach most DS/PSP users.

I really like the idea of a shared lan/internet game between console platforms, but retail-wise I think nintendo's pretty protective of their system, and I'm sure sony's got something to say about it too.
