ok I have a radica with a messed up 74hc174 on it and I need something to replace it with any suggestions, something else that has the exact same functon maybe? please help

I don't think any brick and mortar stores will have it. Fry's Electronics might though.

Mouser has it:
Larger DIP version (through-hole)

Smaller surface mount version

If the metal leads on the part go through the circuit board, and are soldered on the other site, you need the first link.
