Thay cant get any homebrew to run on the wii, and those are the only pc ones I use.

Look at the Wii section of Modchipman.com.
Wiinja is a chip to play imports, and the Wiikey plays Wii and Gamecube imports, and Gamecube homebrew. No Wii homebrew, though.

I'm waiting for a relatively easy way to play my roms on the Virtual Console. I suppose I MIGHT be willing to part with a couple bucks a pop, but the current selection is to limited to make it worth while.

Well GC homebrew(which works on the Wii) emulates all the VC systems perfectly(minus the 64), with saving(except genesis, but i think it does now). And since the Wii uses full sized DVDs, you can use full sized DVD for GC homebrew.
