Win98SE...better...faster....stronger
I've started a project to use various tools from the internet to make Win98SE faster and look cooler. Here's what I have come up with, let me know if there are any more improvements.
-Derek
===========
Install
===========
98lite (Speeds 98SE up a lot)
Connect to Microsoft Update (updates fixes, ect)
98SE2ME (Transplants in like 800 WinME system files, drivers, ect.)
KernelXP (Allows Win98SE to have many XP Kernel Funtctions)
Unnoficial Win98SE Service Pack 2.1a (Updates, Hacks, Fixes, and more)
wupg98 (Many Fixes, performance Tweaks, XP games)
Win98SE Revolutions Pack (Makes 98SE look like XP/Vista)
MGDX's Unnoficial Update Pack (many more hacks, fixes, and more)

Screenshots please!
If you want to run a lot of newer software you should install the .NET framework. (It's needed by soem third party media center programs and anything written with VB.NET 2005.)
I've been messing around with Virtual PC, and have got NT looking a lot like XP. I replaced the icons that I could using a copy of XP's shell32.dll (where some of the icons are stored) but there are some, like the start menu items, that still look NT-ish. Does anyone know of a program that would let me copy the icons from the XP shell32.dll to the NT shell32.dll? Will Resource Hacker do the job?

get it to run some more complicated stuff and I'll be REALLY IMPressed (like raided HDs or mabye some 1.7 Ghz processors, think about it the reliability of 98 with the power of XP!)
Anyway screenshots now,
I must see the useful Win98SE!

How about WindowBlinds, I own a copy and it runs on 98SE, it allows for other textures and images to replace the default window and start menu. I'll try installing and trying out the Vista Theme.Harshboy wrote:That's really awesome looking. Now all it needs is a Start menu mod and Window mod and it will be pretty damn convincing!

P.S. I agree with gannonbanned, ME was terrible, XP is ok, and Vista Ultimate isn't worth $400.
