ok Since I officially able to order a bunch of different free samples from Fairchild, I was wanting to take the 12v output in a Car Cirgarette lighter and take a old GBA Car plug, rip out all the parts past the positive and negetive lines, and attach a Voltage Regulator to the Positive line and keep the Negetive line on the Board, (Or should I ground the Negetive line?) and then Wire it up to a plug that I can plug into the Back of my PStwo.
If its sounds like I dont know what Im talking about just tell me.
But What Voltage Regulator would be the best to knock 12vdc down to 7/8 for the PStwo to run on, or will a 7805 work just fine?

a 7805 is a 5v regulator.
a 7808 is more what you are looking for (8 volts, I hope you see the pattern)
For running off of a car battery, a linear reg like a 78xx is the simplest solution. theres so much power available that you dont need to worry about efficiency - a DCDC converter just introduces complexity you probably dont want or need.
Or, an lm317 is an adjustable linear reg that covers the voltage range you want.
As for negative/ground... they are the same thing. And yeah, you need all your grounds to be connected together or else nothing will work.
