Amatuer Modder Looking for advise on suitable screens

Ok so far from reading around and just snooping ive come to the conclusion and understanding that using a laptop screen or lcd monitor is going to be a royal pain in the ..... so i figure i have to be looking at lcd tv's as they seem as the most viable option for my Dreamcast laptop project im working on (thanks to ben im now a electronics junkie and seemed to have become a packrat in the process *laughs much to the wifes content *laughs again, THANKS BEN) im looking to use a 15 inch screen for my project, rebuilding keyboard and adding a few doohickies looking to make a nice clean project, My question is am i looking in the right direction heres a few tvs ive been looking into in the price range im looking at http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/prodde ... 103&catid= and ttp://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?s ... &langid=EN# are these good canidates for what im trying to do? thanks again to all those who answer back!!!

Try to find if those screens accept composite video. I could do it, but I am too lazy.

If it doesn't say on the site, google the name and the info.

I saw a dreamcast with a VGA mod yesterday. If that's the case a laptop screen would work fine.

Not if the system puts out what the laptop can receive.

The reason we don't use laptop screens etc. are because they are VGA and digital screens, and the common household consoles are analog composite, rgb, and s-video.

Doesn't look hard at all. The Dreamcast outputs VGA, you just gotta set up a connector using a chip.

No Kurt_, they usually can't take VGA, it gets a special signal from the laptop, IIRC.

Actually building 2 VGA circuits for both my machines and from my understanding you cant use laptop lcd's cause you need the part of the computer that runs the video and building one from scratch is a huge endevor, some game screens and lcd tvs seem to be the best option cause they include a video control board unless im missing something, another thing with using older laptop screens is the "ghosting" effect which most modern screens dont do today. So yes a VGA monitor will accept the signal BUT with out the video proccessing capabilities of the pc/laptop the lcd monitor is worth nothing to us for that reason .
