Well Not really a Project, but I am Starting to collect all the Snes Games that Used Enhancement chips, like the Super Fx, Mario Chip (FX first Revision) the Dsp1 chip, used in games like Mario Kart, Pilot Wings, and I surpisingly found out the F-Zero doesnt use this DSP1 chip, in just takes full advantage of the Snes's Mode 7 technology to create the Spinning and scaling effects.
Right now I only have gotten a few Carts scanned, I still need to scan the Carts that I have with the Enhancement chips since I only scanned a few, still need to scan my yoshi's Island Cart, and Super Mario RPG carts.
Not to mention I am gonna try and Archive every Chip used in every game I can get my hands on, and have Information on each chips use in the Cart.
The Only question and really cant find much info on is the MAD chips inside the SNES cart, in the Pilot wings cart the MAD-1 chip part number is Bu2230A but on my Mario Kart cart its labled MAD-2 with the part number BU2231A, which tells me that this is an Upgrade to the MAD-1, can anyone tell me what this chip is used for? Because I have found the Essintial MaskRom chip for the Game rom, and the SRAM for saves and such, and the Lock out chip, and the Enhancement chip if the game has one, leaving this MAD chip which I don't know the use for.
Right now its gonna take me some time to archive all this without a Gamebit screwdrive to take apart the Snes carts, so right now Ive been using Needle nosed pliers to Open them.
The archive I will make will be a webpage for anybody to see.
Snes Cart Archiving

Ive got a SNES collection with a LOT of carts with enhancement chips. The majority of them. I actually plan on collecting all 700+ us snes releases eventually, though it will take me a few years at least.
As far as cart scans and information, A lot of the work has already been done. Check out:
http://nintendoallstars.w.interia.pl/romlab/sneslab.htm
There is a link to cart scans where they have most carts with special chips scanned already. Its down right now but check back in a few days.

So MAD chip was SRAM?!? Doesnt seem logical, the SRAM chip was nearly the same size as the Mask Rom chip, hmmm.
I thought SRAM was for Saves, yet I have taken apart my Starfox Cart and it has SRAM but no Battery 256k a SRAM to be excact. Hmmmm
Im confused.
EDIT: Nevermind I found that the guide says to connect to the MAD chip for a SRAM switch.
Wow I can add more SRAM and have Switch to connect them, coolio, Have like tons of Saves on 1 Cart.
yeah, sram is just memory. The way saves work on those carts is it used the battery to keep the ram powered. New stuff like some later GBA carts and DS carts use flashram to save.
That site is a REALLY great archive of information. The cart scans are awesome, so check them when its back up. Check out the main page at http://www.romlab.prv.pl/ for other systems. This is one website that needs to be backed up so it never goes down, it would be a huge loss.

From what this appears to me, I can make a SNES game Cart Reader for the COmputer to hook up through the Printer port.

If it is I wonder if there is a program I can rip my Snes games to my Computer to play on Emulators.
