question about power supply
ok so say i replaced the power supply of the dreamcast with a mini-itx and used 10 nimh batterys how many mAh would they need to be for me to get a good 3 hour life out of the dreamcast? (i have no idea of the power consumption of my dc sorry)

Uh, you would probably need a car battery and possibly an altenator connected to the cd drive via a belt and pully system for 3 hours. haha! Seriously though, I can get 1.5 hours on a 5400mAh lithium ion battery. If I remember correctly, the little 3.3 volt draws 2.5A to 3A. That is the guy that kills the batteries, and the main reason why most people seem to abandon the portable DCs.
Yeah Nucklez and Dkap01 are getting about the same thing. Dkap01's DCp ran about 1.5 hours on two batteries (combined) holding 6000mA.
I would say if you need 3 hours, it'd be better for you to see about using a AC adapter or if you're going to be in a car, use a cigarette lighter. Trying to carry around the batteries for three hour's of power will be like running around with two Xboxes in your arms.

yea you could buy like three of these (is there a 12V requirement? if so too bad)
They could get could last for a while, but they are bulky and they would need some seriously long charge times

wow didnt realise battery life sucked that bad on the dc well still if i were to manage it it would be like an all in one portable with all the homebrew. and chances are i would end up using it in the car mostly and only use the batteries if i felt like showing off how much of a loser i am
