I think the battery on my motherboard is bad, is there a way to tell for sure because I don't want to waste money on a batter as I an a cheapskate. Also those small batteries are expensive!
Every time I start my computer the time is wrong and I have to reset it.

that is a pretty sure-fire indication your cmos battery is dead.Every time I start my computer the time is wrong and I have to reset it.
