ANOTHER PS1 LCD QUESTION

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

ANOTHER PS1 LCD QUESTION

Post by pdrift86 »

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I have been havung problems getting my ps1 lcd (ntsc) to work on my laptop. my laptop has a ati mobile radeon 7500 video card. I checked with powerstrip and it does support csync and the custom timings and resolution needed by this lcd. my problem is that i cannot get my laptop to enable the secondary display at all. I know it works because i can hook up my 17" lcd monitor to it and it works. it also has svideo out that also works. I think that the video card needs to sense that something is attached to it in order for it to activate the second dispaly.

I'm trying to get this lcd to work with my laptop cuz i want to install the lcd in the dash of my car to use as the primary display when i connect my laptop in it. i tried looking in various forums lik mp3car and also lots of googling. i can't seem to find what i'm looking for. i've had this lcd for about a year and i know it works i've used composite input with my ps2 to watch movies in bed. every so often i get the urge to tinker with it to see if i can get it to work but i never manage to do so. this forum has been the biggest help so far so i thought i'd ask here. thanks in advance.

try pressing 'function + F7'. i just did it on my laptop now and my LCD went dark even though i dont even have anything connected to my VGA hole. on mine it cycles through LCD -> VGA -> LCD and VGA

it might also be Fn + F8 on your lappy.

worst case just use s-video. on such a low-res screen you probably wouldnt notice much of a difference anyways.

come to think of it, i knew about cycling through my display options using the function key but i never thought of it (doh) ^_^ i guess i have to bust that lcd out again and give it a shot. and even though the screen is small, you'd be suprised at the difference in clarity there is between s-video and vga. i've read in other forums (mp3car) that the vga mod is a must to read small text. watching movies is ok in svid but i plan on using this screen as the main display for my carputer. i want to install it permanently in my dash. i'm trying to fing another laptop possibly with a broken screen to use as the base for my system. i'll give it another shot when i get the chance. thanx
