How to Remove Windows?

Ok I have WAY to many Operating Systems on my Computer, and there is barely any Hardrive space left. I have Windows 2000 and Xp installed, but the only working OS is 2k, because I have a Copied version of XP and I needed to call in the damned code for authorization, and I dont have Internet on this Compy.

I'm just useing my School's Computer During night school.

I would say boot using a bootdisk (make one with Win2k), formatting the WINXP partition (be careful here!), and then running fixmbr. Of course this is just cursory, and I am assuming you installed Win2k and WinXP on two different partitions. Perhaps someone else might have a more detailed explanation or another suggestion.

All I know is that, When the computer boots up, it Gives me an option to Start 2k or Xp. I just Want to Remove XP and 2000 And put in 98 because 2000 is not compatible with my Sound card. Plus more than half of all my Games for Some reason wont run On either 2k or Xp (Thats why I Installed XP to see if that was the Problem but it wasnt.

I'll try the boot disc thing.

I am at a loss of words. I mean a search on Google could fix your genuine advantage problem, and/or your drivers and/or removing XP.

Wait, do you have 2 partitions or 1? If you have only one, you could probably get by by just deleting the folder XP is in & removing it from boot.ini on the root of the disk.

Otherwise, you can just delete the partition & edit boot.ini.

Yes then it is on 1 Partition, Ok I'll just delete the Folder with Xp On it and is there any way to get by the Authentication Pass code? Lke Deleting a Certain File that triggers lock-up? Or should I not talk about that here?

If you want XP, go and buy XP. (Home edition only costs something like $80 now.)

You should dual boot between 2000 and 98. Why? 98 sucks now. Microsoft no longer updates or supports it, and gradually everything's moving to 2000/XP. Format the XP partition as FAT32, install 98 onto it, and don't install your modem or NIC drivers on it and you'll be fine. Use 98 for games, and 2000 for web browsing, chatting, and other stuff.

Well...no. The mods will lock this thread if you do.

Remember to delete the line on boot.ini (it's on the root of your hard disk)

This is what mine looks like:

Your timeout should say 30. If you plan to have more than one OS, it's a good idea to change that to something lower than 5. Otherwise, it makes no difference what it is when there's one OS. Delete the line that Windows XP is on & you should be fine.

EDIT: Damn, someone beat me to it. (although he failed to recognize that it's only ONE partition)

When I was 4ish we had a main boot of DOS and within DOS you could boot Windows.

If you want to put just 98 on the machine just go through the usual installation, the partitioner should clear out the NTFS partition and free up the whole hard drive.

If you want to dual boot 98 and 2000. Delete the XP Win32 folder. Then get a partition tool (Knoppix is a good one, and there's always fdisk). Be sure to back up any data you want to keep, and then go and change it so you have what you want for the 98 install. Once that's done install it on the partition, and after that's all done, go into the boot.ini and modify it so that it will boot either or.

It looks like you had Win3.1 Kurt. Also, you can have seemingly infinite installs of Windows on one partition, & seemingly infinite partitions (well, within extended partitions, otherwise you're just stuck w/ a maximum of 4) to install other OS'es on.
