Is it Possible to Repair?.....

Ok the one of the IDE Cable input pins on the DVD drive on my old Dell that was bought in like 2000 or 2001 has Busted off, is there any easy way to fix it without have to desolder the IDE Pins and replace it with a new one?

It fell off...ahh...well, I'm sorry man, but believe me, it's done. Unless if you can desolder off the old port and put in a new one, but it's rather impractical. But well, it did hurt me, that's how one XBOX mod went wrong and my N64p died!

depending on how much of a stub is left where it broke off, it is possible to solder the rest of the pin back on, but it's pretty difficult. you'd probably be better off just buying a new dvd drive or harvesting one from another computer. DVD drives really aren't that expensive anymore.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, I saw a DVD Burner for 40 bucks not on sale over the Holidays.

No I think its Data, because My Dad couldnt get it to work and Neither could Best Buy, so We just Unhooked it and I thought I would ask ou guys on how to repair it.

I just dont have a Desoldering Equipment to Desolder the IDE port.

Ever hear of desoldering braid for like $3.50 from Radioshack?

Nope

Never went to radio shack, always thought they were way to expensive. I look in Radio Shack next time I am at the Mall for one. And I can get a New IDE port from my Local Electronic Surplus store, which has Everything, besides Desoldering Braids and Blue LEDs.

Hell this store Even Has the Same type of ROM chips use in old Nintendo games. You can basically build a Computer with all the stuff this store has.
