world's strangest controller problem

OK I have a YOBO NOAC, now this is my problem

I have used both the NOAC controller and a 4021 IC with 47K Resistors, now my issue is that whenever I try the hard wired controller, All the buttons work with exception to select, then it acts like all the buttons are being pressed

it only happens with the select button and if I cut the 5v and the clock, and plug in a normal controller or a yobo controller, then it that one works properly

What is the deal!

The only thing I can think of is that you may have connected one side of the select switch to the data line instead of ground.

OK I have a solution, but its ugly

anyway I surmounted that both of my controllers were fragged somehow,

Anyway, I just wipped out the other Yobo certified controller!
Anyway, I took my controller and wired to tacts and just ran the wire strait to the port, I'll work this out into the design, But I think a direct hook up just leads me to fried controllers, I think I have something crossed in my diagram or I am just an idiot...whatever, I have it working and that is honestly all I care about...
