snesp battery/voltage regulator questions
What kind and voltage batteries are you guys using in your SNES portables. I was going to use a 7.2V lion battery, but now I have some concerns. The 7805 voltage regulator will barely work at that voltage, and once input voltage drops below 7V the 7805 quits working completely. Does it cause any problems to run the SNES at more than 5V? Is it worth it to wire up a switching regulator?

I was going to use a 7.2 li-ion pack too, but I decided on 7 Ni-MH AA cells for 8.4v which will allow for a voltage drop in the batteries and not hurt the screen.
I actually made a switching regulator for a snesp, but it has the same problem as the 7805s, it requires >7.2v for it to work with high loads.
Most games would work fine, but SuperFX games like Starfox would drop the voltage down and make the PSone screen freak out.
As far as I know the SNES does have to have pretty much 5v input. The APU sound module can go down to 3.5v, though
