Hey I posted a few months ago that I wanted to start my own home studio, I did some research and the most economical thing would be to

1) buy a Mac
2) add on a package like this

What do you people think?
I plan on using the garageband and the like, but I need some feedback

Looks like thats gonna be real expensive. Why do you need all that anyways ?

If you have a small budget, go by a Mac Mini. You'll get iMovie which is one of the best amateur video editing program out there. And if you want to upgrade later to Final Cut Pro HD, said to be the best video editing program under $1000.

I have to insist that if you buy a Mac Mini, get the Duo, the Solo is not going to have the performance you'll want when it comes to processing all the video graphics and format conversion.

that look like a pretty good set up

the condenser mics are good

but you could get a better interface in my opinion, the Firepod is good but id recomend a firewire Desk, rather than just an input rack, like this

gives you more direct control rather than faffing around with settings in the programs

I've done ridiculous amounts of research for the home studio my mother wants to have, so I think I can help you with exactly what you 'ought to get.

First two questions:

1. What kind of music will you be creating?

2. What's your budget?
