I actually haven't thought of doing that, but I would. Now wouldn't be a good time. There's tons of snow.

The only place I can dumpster dive is behind a thrift store in my town, but I get some nice old computer parts sometimes.
My town also has a "spring pickup" where people put junk out on the side of the road and the city takes it away for free. I got a non working 486 laptop and a working 13" tv last year :)

I went and did that once with my brother looking behind some of stores like ABC werehouse, circuit sity and best buy. Then problem was they have dumpsters that only open into the building otherwise I'd sell the stuff and have more money to spend.

What about rooting through neighbors rash can on trash day? I got a genesis, several bikes, and some shop goggles in my neighbors trash.
I hardly ever do it though, and I feel guilty when I dont becuase I know some good stuff is geting thrown away!

Here is a tip: use thick gloves.

Some people put coumadin(rat poison) in their garbage to kill rats. For those of you who study medicine, it is a powerful and potentially deadly blood thinner....but I don't expect it in a computer/gaming store's dumpster, since rats don't eat cases and PCB.

I even have a book someone wrote on how to properly dumpster dive, from diving technique to good searching technique.
Warranty-Voiding fun!

I made the sound-proof "looping booth" for PW by getting crap out of a dumpster at a carpeting store.

Yes, it was a little weird going in, getting this carpet/foam crap and then stuffing in my station wagon, but I had the store's permission and best of all... IT WAS FREE!!!!

Only one person from the film (Michelle) complains of air-borne toxicants... but I said DEAL WITH IT!

So goes low-bud filmmaking....
