Haven't been here in a while

Post by LHoT »

Yeah yeah yeah, before you ask, my old portable is canceled. I fell into a depression and stuff, and now I see that I couldn't do the first one at that time. I have a couple questions.

1) Can the N64 3.3v line handle 3v?

2) If it can, what letter batteries can/should I use.

3) Here's what I'm planing. My first will be just a n64 with a screen. After that, I'll attach a battery. And finally integrate the controller.

Alrighty, I have the pin outs and pin ins for th screen. I'm not sure what to do about most of the first slot in this diagram, I can figure out all of slot 2. (I see there are two grounds, where do both of them go?) Well anyways, thanx for the help, see everyone later.

Any that output 1.5v will work if you have two (not rechargeables though). I would suggest some kind of voltage regulator instead, as N64s are picky about their 3.3v line.

C's + TI dc-dc convertor is a really good combination. it's what I use and I get about 4-5 hours play time.

wouldn't recommend hooking 2x1.5v batteries right up to the 3.3v line. you're right at the minimum voltage as it is, and voltage on those batteries drops linearly with capacity. it also drops linearly with increasing load, and the 3.3v line is power hungry.

you'd be lucky to get half the total capacity out of the batteries before the system shuts down. really lucky.

I'd recommend 6-12 AA 2500mAh batteries, that'd give you 7.2V at 2500-5000mAh which would give 2-5 hours of gameplay I think.
