Quick Wireless Question
Could I use a cheap USB wireless adapter to provide internet to another device such as a Pocket PC? So it'll be DSL modem> desktop> WiFi adapter> Pocket PC, laptop, etc. Or do I need a router?
im assuming your desktop has a lan card for the dsl modem. so then yes. you can set up a wireless ad-hoc network between two computers just like you would with a crossover cable, and then bridge the two connections to give the other comptuer internet.
now, i dont know how well that works with pocket pcs and stuff, but ive done it with two laptops. i say give it a try, you can always return the usb thing.

Ok, thanks. Can it only connect two devices? Even if it doesn't work, my dad would still like it to send internet to his laptop.timmeh87 wrote:im assuming your desktop has a lan card for the dsl modem. so then yes. you can set up a wireless ad-hoc network between two computers just like you would with a crossover cable, and then bridge the two connections to give the other comptuer internet.
