I think the title sums it up. My computer is playing media files too fast, a 2x the normal speed.
Is it possible to fix this?

all, I only have Windows Media player though
It also happens with video too.

Check all the settings things, one of them has speed, it could be set to 2x.

Now thats weird, have you made any changes since they last played right (i.e. played right, installed something, didn't play right)?

How about when you double click the clock in the start bar...are the seconds going two times as fast, how about opening programs and such, or is it just video related? The reason I ask is because there was this program called speedpig which messes with the computer clock speed.

Yeah, something might have screwed with your clock speed. Perhaps a virus (I only assume viruses can do that, maybe they can't). But a program like the one Minkster referenced could be used as a temporary fix. I recommend
