is there a program that lets you make comics?

I think I remember reading about a program that lets you make comics online. is there? is it for free?

Not so amazingly a search for Online Comic Maker does bring up answers to your question.

It;s not an online tool, but <a href="http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html">Paint.NET</a> looks like it's a cross between The GiMP and MS Paint. It requires Windows 2000, XP, or Vista and the .NET framework version 2.0 or later.

Cheaper than Photoshop, more newbie-friendly than The GiMP... this looks like a promising application. (I haven't used it myself, since I've already got Photoshop 7 and GiMP Portable, but it does look pretty solid.)

You can use that for layout, since it has layer capabilities. However, if you want to make your own sound effect callouts ("POW!" and the like) or speech baloons, you should download OpenOffice and use its draw program. (Vector programs are great for this stuff.)

Make sure you post some of your comics!

I use Paint.NET, I like it better than Gimp because I can do stuff without knowing what I'm doing. Its a really good program.
