i accidently soldered the wires from the cart slot into the holes they were in, is it OK to bridge the wire sticking out of the holes to the place where the pins from the ext. slot were?

Yes, and it is my preferred way of doing N64 slot relocations since it adds some support to the wires

i just soldered/bridged the places where the wires were sticking through to the pins sticking up from the ext. slot but it didnt work... i'll just do it the other way on another n64. BUt there were also a lot of problems with the cart. slot that could have caused it not to work though.

maybe you wired the cart slot backwards. it's very easy to make that mistake
