Are there any softmods that can enable a PSTwo to support emulation? If not, any modchips?

You should be able to find a swap magic disk for PS2. You will have to buy it because you can't run ANY burned disks on a PS2 without a modchip. There is also a flip top lid mod that you can do too. You just have to replace the case which is pretty easy.
I've installed a few chips, and if you aren't comfortable with soildering I highly recommend against it. You can go as far as running a hard drive in the PS2 and play your PS2 games from it. I have an original "big" PS2, with a 200 gig Hard Drive and an Apple Chip. I only have to keep one disk in the PS2, and the Hard Drive is 1000% faster than the original Disks. Booting up Vice City in 20 seconds as apposed to a minute or more is enough of a bonus in itself.
