I'm unhappy with Luc...

Post by daguuy »

Be sure not to post irrelevant topics
i don't know if this is part of the update, but what's that supposed to mean in a general discussion forum?
seriously, i don't get it. you guys (mostly, but not limited to, luc) lock everything
EDIT: oh boy a split topic. i wonder how long it's gonna go before luc gives up and locks it. he made fun of me for ending a brief argument earlier, he seems really mature when it comes to debating about stuff

Basically, we mean "only post it if you think it can hold up a discussion longer than 5 good posts".

We don't lock "everything". It just seems like people are posting irrelevant garbage nobody cares about (blogging). When someone posts "I'm playing this game and its awesome!" in a thread by itself, it's blogging. However, if they post "Does anyone else play [game]? I think it's fun..." or something like that, that's more OK.

And before you all go off editing your bloggy posts, read this:

Tacking phrases like "to make this less spammy", or "so this isn't spam..." onto a thread does NOT MAKE IT NOT SPAM!

Seriously. You guys complain when there's too much spam. Then we crack down on spam and you complain about that. Then we get more lax, and you complain... (no not "you" as in "you the individual", "you" as in "the non-staff members here".)

Sorry if I was a bit harsh there, but this has happened before, you know? ;)

i get what you're saying but lots of threads that could have intelligent discussion are locked. i took a look at page 118-117 when everybody was happier and it was really lenient. like gamefaqs message board lax (that place is almost anarchy. EDIT: i'm not suggesting gamefaqs policy, it's just a comparison). maybe luc's aspergers syndrome makes him think everything non-tech related will go to hell and should be locked (no offence to aspergers people and i'm probably going to be flamed a lot for this, but people who moderate other people shouldn't have any kind of social mental disorder). this place is just no fun anymore because of all the strict regulations and stuff

I dont use gamefaqs anymore because every time CjayC makes a new rule, 10,000 more members destroy there accounts, and if I dont than im N00b!!!! plus, new topics are made every 15 seconds.

But back on topic, I think the rules are not leniant enough. period.

I believe it's spelt lenient. You would be surprised about how normal we are (rule-wise) compared to other forums. These rules have been here for 2 years, and I really think that by now, you guys should be expected to follow them. Just because a thread of yours just got locked doesn't mean that we aren't lenient, it just means you spam.

I've checked other forums, and this is by far the nicest and most helpful and informative. This place must be good if I'd rather be here than playing video games.

Daguuy, I've gotta say, you've pushed our (the mods) buttons countless times with smartass remarks and insults, and you expect us not to be strict? At least to you.

And I agree with vskid, this forums is one of the most relaxed forums I've been to.

that's the aditude i don't like. the mods are mean to me because i see how insanely strict and unreasonable the moderation of F42 is. i push your (the mod's) buttons because you push mine. i used to care if i got banned but this place has gotten too rotten and just not a very freindly place. i portablize and help other people portablize but can't do much else like talk about whatever because it's always being locked. the mods are too obsessed with calling stuff spam and blogging and it's just not cool.
@vskid
the portablizing forums are nice and informative and stuff. it's F42 i'm talking about.

I agree

I also agree that this is by far the most strict forum i have ever seen.

42 seems to always be the talk of the town. No one likes it, no one wants to get rid of it. We love what it could be, we hate what it is.

Daguuy, instead of automatically assuming staff is at fault, pissing us off, then whining when we get pissed off...try looking for other solutions. Start an anti-spam campaign, PM members about not spamming. Or whine, spam, and get banned. It's really up to you. But let's make something clear. The staff doesn't lock threads because we're strict. We simply don't care about you guys enough to torment you that way. We lock because you spam. We care about the forum. Period.

By the way, how about you go ahead and research Asperger's Syndrome before making cracks at it. Honestly man, it's like you don't even have a soul.

i've been here for about a year an a half. i'm not one of the first members but i've been here long anough to know how problems start and who's behind them. i'm not taking a random guess that the staff is at fault. and PMing members about spamming would be breaking the 2nd rule#5. did you not know that? you wrote the rules
Start an anti-spam campaign
you don't know what i'm talking about do you.
We lock because you spam
your defenition of spam is too broad. you lock what i know is not spam and blogging and it annoys the hell out of me. you're the reason i question the mods. if you weren't mod, this would be a better place and i'd have a clean record.
By the way, how about you go ahead and research Asperger's Syndrome before making cracks at it
i wrote a 5 paragraph report on it for school. i know what it is.

i critisize because if i didn't, this place would be too dull with no off-topic stuff and i would leave because just portablization is not what brings me here (though i do portablize, unlike you)

Wait...so notifying users of their offenses breaks the rule of:
4. No politics/religion.
?
In any case, you seem to want these forums to be more about the general discusion than making portables, which they aren't.

That's not what gannon meant at all. You want the general disscussion to flourish and that would overshadow the entire point of this forum. Portables.

You wrote a 5 paragraph essay on AS, huh? I guess that trumps my 18 years of experience of living with it, huh? AS is a fluid disease that is often unique to the person who has it. It often entails combinations of (though not limited to) ADD, ADHD, OCD, autism, social anxiety and other smiliar conditions. You would know that if you did any research at all.
