Anyone here have a 45 and/or 78? (You know, the records...)

Yeah, so it's a long story, but I was just wondering if anyone had a 45 and/or 78 and would be willing to measure the inside (the label) for me. I have lots of LPs; I don't need that. I need the diameter of the label on a 45 and a 78. Can anyone help me out here?

I know at least one of you guys (a regular) has some 78s, 'cause they said so in a different thread. Can't remember who or which thread, though.

On a 45 its 10cm (4 inches)

i just checked now

dont know about 78's but it think its the same

My dad has a large record collection that is less than 3 feet from the computer so i thought it wouldnt be that much effort

If my records wheren't heavily stacked on top of each other (& about to be put in a box to be transported to another house), I'd measure my Edison record, & one of my newer generic 78's... (maybe in a couple hours...(no promises))

What about yours, atari2600a? Why do you have those ancient pieces of shellac or for that matter, how do you even know about/own the Edison records?

i was gonna buy some edison diamonddiscs at a garagesale but they were the stamped kind not labeled, not worth much especially with out a phonograph! cool stuff tho

I have a 78 somewhere, just gotta find it....

EDIT: Well I'm having trouble finding it but I took a picture of it awhile ago* and I know for a fact they're ten inches across, so from this picture the label looks to be around 2 inches? maybe?

*funny story about the picture, I took it because some kid in my Algebra 2 class last year claimed that really old records would play in CD drives. So I took this picture to see what he would say, and his reponse was- "Well that's because you have a Mac. If you had a Windows it would work." What a fruit

Well, yeah... that's a load of crap.

But they do have these new "laser turntables" that actually use a laser to read the record, rather than a stylus. 'Course, they cost $15,000, but still.

Wow, that laser turntable is pure awesomeness, listen to all your favorite records with no ware, pity it costs as much as a small car

You can't play diamonddiscs without a special phonograph. And they don't exist anymore.

I don't have any 45's or 78's but a crapload of 33's. I even have a record in the diameter of a 78 that plays at 33 (it's a really rare Turtles record made of transparent red vinyl and COLLECTORS LIMITED EDITION on the label; and a microgroove record the size of a 45 with as much songs as a 33.

Mm'kay... it's 4 inches on both 33s and 45s... it would make sense that it would be 4 inches on a 78 as well, but I've got to figure it out for sure. Anyone else maybe have a 78 at hand?

I collect outdated media. I have 7 hip-hop records (5 singles; 2 albums, including Danger Doom *13374g3*), a labled Edison, coutless 78's & 33's (Including Jackson 5's third album *Hee Hee*), & a cylinder, etc...
