A few people around here have made portables with built-in memory cards. I did one myself with my PSOneP. Anyways, has anyone ever fried one while doing this? I might be the first, and it sucks.
I had soldered it in and also the controller at the same time. I knew it was stupid not to do it one at a time because if a problem came up, it'd be harder to diagnose. But I figured I'd done this enough times it'd be fine. Then of course such a problem did arise. The PS2 (slim) power led would turn on (green) for a moment, and the screen would turn on as well, and then it'd turn back off (red). I knew I'd screwed up something somewhere, and it took forever to figure out. I ended up having to conjure up a magnifying glass and a flashlight. Turns out there was a tiny connection between two of the memory card solder points. A little scrape with my exacto knife did away with that. But it won't detect the memory card. I rechecked all my connections, even redid a few that felt a bit loose, and nothing.
My best option at the moment is to remove the wires and solder from the memory card, put it back in its casing, and insert it in the other slot to see if it actually is fried or not. I'm not hopeful.
