Anyone need a job? (Portable Request)

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

As much of a Nintendo fanboy as I am, I love the PS2. I love it so much, in fact, that I was going to make a portable out of it! However, time is DEFINITELY against me, and quite frankly, soldering on ANY current-gen system.....intimidates me. My soldering skills suck as it is, so I think I may as well stick with my good 'ol classic portables with their colossal traces.

So the actual request: I need someone to simply wire up a PS2p, using preferrably the fat mobo (although if you need the skinny, smaller one, it could be arranged). I would provide ALL the parts, including PS2/PSTwo, screen, battery, and controller. I would also build the case; I enjoy that part of the project no matter what, and it would match the components I mail to you precisely. All I want it wired to do is:

P2 support
Composite video
Mono sound
Speakers+Headphone jack
Brt/Vol control knobs/buttons

As far as the case goes, I'd like to do it landscape (GBA original style), but if portrait better suits you, then I can also make it that way.

And of course, you'd be compensated for the job. I can do trades, $$$, or a combination of the two. My for sale/trade list can be found here:
My Lot of Stuff
I also have a rather private stash of rare/expensive SNES RPGs that I would fork over for the job (excluding maybe Chrono Trigger, but that may even be up for trade if you accept the job  ). PM me for details on those.

Come on guys, I'm DESPERATE for a PS2p fix! Unless, of course, eastrider_1 is willing to sell one of his PS2p's once the second one is completed...

Thanks,
CTFan

I am tied up in a project (still waiting for parts to arrive), but I could do it. the one I am currently tied up in seems like a quicky since I have done similar ones beforehand. As for a PS2 project, seems pretty new. Never ever done one! I can wire it. But, hey. As for wiring. I can do it. Wiring is what I do. You can be my second customer to use my new vacuum former, so my cases don't suck anymore. :P

I am desperate for those rpgs.
CronoTriggerfan wrote:Hey Klef, guess what? I have EVERY ONE of those SNES games, and all the RPGs are BOXED, COMPLETE, and in MINT CONDITION!!! Funny thing though....YOU CAN"T HAVE THEM  ! Sorry, just HAD to do that  !

Back to business: I have a Super GameBoy that I *may* be willing to part with, along with a copy of OoT complete with the instruction booklet, if you're interested.

Cool, people are actually interested! East just PMed me saying that he *might* sell me his PSTwoP, but nothing's set in stone, meaning I'd really like to have someone else doing it, especially since the PSTwoP would probably cost me a lot more, since he's making the case as well. So keep those offers coming, and I'll pick who I feel is most qualified for the job!

If no one else will do it I can, sorry if I sound annoying or anything but I am quite good at wiring and could do that and someone else could do the case... I will show a wiring job I did on my GC one sec...

Cool! And WOW, MetroidFan, that solder work is insane  ! I have, however, had a change of plans:

I can no longer supply you with the battery or PSTwo  ! You'd have to pick up these things, and then factor them into your labor costs when I pay you. I can, however, still supply the screen and case.

Another thing is that eastrider_1 has sent me a PM that he may be willing to part with his new PSTwoP upon completion; if this is so, I (of course) won't need anyone to do this job; but if he decides to keep it, then you guys'll be my best bet!

Thanks,
CTFan

All you need is it wired up? Wow.

If the dude doesn't give you his, here's my relocation of the N64 jumper pack (about 1/6 way through):

Don't worry, Sky, I know you've got skills  ! If I do end up making a case for myself, I think I may take your advice and make a bent aluminum/plexi case, I really like the results it gives. Does plexi paint well?

Plexi paints good if you sand like crazy and use primer.

I see your pretty desperate for a portable, eh? How do you think i feel after just getting my battery and testing is all green, my mobo gets a solder blob on the laser chip rendering it useless?? Oh BTW thats my 5th mobo :( . Anyway if you supply me with the stuff i sure could build you one. It really all comes down to which one you want- a big or a slim. That's definintly a price difference cause the slim is easier to work with mobo wise, and the big one is DIFFICULT mobo wise. Just PM me with details and we'll see what we can work out.
