My bro's DS fell in pool :shock:

It won't turn on now. We tried a new battery but it didn't work. It's flashed so I can't send it to nintendo. Can anyone service it?

If a DS falls in a pool you DON'T try to turn it on! You take it apart and dry it off (and possibly clean the chlorine residue off if it's there).

THEN you try to turn it on!

If it won't turn on, why don't you send it to Nintendo anyways? If they can't get it fixed, nobody can, and besides, it's not like they'll notice. Can't you UN-flash it?

i say send it in with some lame excuse and see if you can get it replaced. i dont think its going to get fixed.

Just don't go back to that Gamestop for a few months, and they'll never catch you.

EDIT: Wait a sec, would the screens still work? If so you could sell them or buy another DS with busted screens and replace them with yours.

You should have taken it apart and let it dry BEFORE you did anything else with it. Then you would have had to clean the chemicals off the board with a cleaner. I use 91% Isophryl alcohol because it's cheap, removes a lot of crap, and leaves no residue behind. Then you put it back together and pray like the dickens that it MIGHT have a CHANCE to work again. If you just take it apart to dry but don't clean the chemicals off, there's a chance the chemicals in the water, mostly the chlorine, would corrode the traces and contacts over time.

However, since he applied power to the board while it was still wet, it's fried. Send it to Nintendo and shell out for a replacement. Sure it's flashed, but if it won't turn on how will they know? Just don't tell them.

Since it's been a couple years since it was built (you said it's a "launch day" DS), it's probably out of warranty (though I may be wrong).

Buy a new old-style DS and send your old one in with the new one's warranty. That way you have 2 working ones, and you can return one or something.

I think they're connected, the warranty and the DS, through the serial code on the DS. Just call the customer service people and Nintendo, and tell them your DS stopped working...have them send you a new one

You are basicly screwed and the only option left would be to dry and clean it and hope it works.
I could use it for the screens though.

Carefully swap the serial codes. Use a glue solvent to take it off and new glue to glue it back on the other DS.
