For a project: Can the NES be cut apart?

I am wondering if the NES has more than 2 layers of PCB.

What I hope to do is make a homebrew version of something cool I saw: a VCR with a built in NES. However, I have a lot of depth, but not much height or width. Thus, I want to sandwich the board on itself by cutting it apart and rewiring it with ribbon cable.

So....does it have more than 2 layers, or no?

from what I can tell it only has 2 layers. I have a nes schematic laying around somewhere if you want to trace all the traces just be certain

Only two layers. Someone has made either an Atari2600 or an NES portable that way. Cutting it in half and stacking them, if I remember correctly. Also if I remember correctly, there's a point where there aren't that many traces crossing.
