You are going to need either a liquid nitrogen or liquid helium cooling system.
I'm pretty sure that Z80's dont generate any noticable amount of heat, like ARM cpu's. So you probably cant cause any damage. Then again the chip will have a maximum stable limit, varies from processor to processor. Thing is, you have prabably reached yours, since you said only one game boots past the nintendo screen. Also, cooling it isnt going to help much, if at all.

You ARE aware that Liquid Nitrogen, Helium, and any other gas that's a liquid and cold is cooled by machines and such, right?(Well, you know what I mean). The only thing a Liquid Nitrogen cooling system would do is heat up, and possibly create an explosion when it turned back into a gas due to the immense amount of pressure it would cause.SamF wrote:You are going to need either a liquid nitrogen or liquid helium cooling system.

No, it wouldn't. You obviously keep the cooler external DUH! God, do you have the brain of a 5 year old? If someone needed a frozen board to reach 500mhz then reaching 1ghz would need a contantly cooled to below freezing point board. Get where i'm going with this?
I mean, what good would a liquid be as a cooling system if it wasnt't cooled by a machine? Besides, he wouldnt be able to keep the GBO like that permentently. People have used liquid nitrogen to cool pentium 4's for a massive overclock.
Also I was referring to the point that, Z80's dont crash from heat, so it would take some immense cooling to get a improvment in overclocking that way, and at those temperatures it would be hard to stop ice crystals forming on, and in, the CPU that would cause it to short out.

Um... who said the cooling system had to be closed?
One guy pushed a P4 to the limit, from 3 ghz to 5 ghz. However his safety wasn't guarenteed.

I doubt the GBO chipset could handle such an extreme overclock. In fact I'm surprised you managed to squeeze 50 mhz out of it.
Try overclocking another system, maybe the NES or a Genesis! I mean if it's possible to overclock a SuperFX chip, the sky's the limit! by the way marshall, what are the capacitors for in that mod?
