Clickable objects in pictures (NEW QUESTION)

Post by Harshboy »

Ok, i'm making a "portal" to link to all of my websites out their. Instead of making it very ugly and booring, i want to make it cool. Now, i made a picture and i love the design! Now i need to know if its possable to make a certain area(s) clickable and link you to a url/webpage.

Here is the picture, everything in red squares will link to a wepage:

I am making the site in html, possably xhtml. If you are feeling nice, feel free to try to make them clickable yourself. Just link them to random sites such as google, benheck, etc..........

I hope this is possable. And thankyou for your time :D

EDIT: Ok, i used Frontpage, and it works nicely and its very easy. Thankyou.

Use this format if you're using four different pictures, not one big one.

Code: Select all

<a href="Website URL/"><img src="Image URL" align="left, right, or center" border="0"></a>

Yes it is, you have to use an image map. I'm trying to remember how to make one and the html code.

EDIT: Here's the guide.

ok, thankyou so much. You have no idea how much easier this will be for me!

EDIT: Hmm....looks a little advanced. I see theres a program that can do the "hot spots" for me. It costs 10 bucks, anyone know of a free alternative?

I know there's one for Mac called Cartographer. Not sure about Windows.

Man what a 2-sided conversation.

Sweet! Im getting my Macbook Tuesday.....and for Windows, i found a tutorial to make "hot Spots" in Frontpage (which i have on my office cd laying around somewhere, i need to install it) And it makes the html for you, seems simple enough. Anyway, thankyou so much for your help...now back to notepad to code me a website portal :D

Ok, new question (didnt want to make new thread): I am in need of your help guys. I need ideas of how to make the "New" Darkstar Portable's site to look like, heck, if you want IM me or PM me designs or pictures, or post them here. The only restrictions are that you make it look Black/Grey/Orange or Navy Blue/Orange to match the other sites i have made :D

So, post your ideas. Like i said this could be spammy so i didnt want to make a new thread
