This is to inform all of you who don't agree with the PS3's price point, or anything else for that matter. READ THIS. That should justify some people, if not, think about what people are saying. "PS3 isnt going to sell"- "Sony may be in 3rd place with PS3"- titles like that have me saying watch and learn. Here are some points:
1. Sony has a lot of marketshare.
2. If you read the Blu-Ray article, what's BETTER? BLU-RAY
3. Sony has NEW technology in their console, Microsoft and Nintendo- as
far as I have heard- don't have anything new.
4. For those who like HALO so damn much- get a life. [or a new game] I
think it's overrated becuse there was no other FPS that was so
appealing to the system.
5. Xbox LIVE was a hit, primarily because of HALO, Sony has
re-engineered the online community. Also, Sony's online is FREE, and the
system comes with a HDD standard.
6. Nintendo's Wii will probably neck and neck with the 360. Many nintendo
fans love the lower price, but think it will have as much success as the
gamecube or N64, although i could be wrong.
Point is that you should really consider what Sony's doing here, they're incorporating NEW technology that THEY thought of into their own system. It takes a lot of money to produce NEW technology that could more than likely change the gaming world.

I see what your saying, yes other systems are good, but people think it wont do good because of the price point. There are just simply too many things to consider when buying a next-gen console.

You forgot the only point that matters: Sony has Square-Enix. That's the only reason they're still around, and everyone knows it. But with SE's return to Nintendo (to a certain degree), those tides may changed.
The only real next-gen benefactor for me is Chrono. I wholeheartedly belive that with all the rumblings, we may just see a new Chrono title come 8th gen time. And if they don't, I'm going to Japan to lead a fully-fledged attack on SE's president and have some "diplomatic" pursuasion. Anyone else interested in joining the cause
? The question is, will it be for PS3 or Wii? I'm gonna get both consoles, but for different reasons. But my favorite one will be the one with SE (and Chrono) support.

SE= PS3.
The relationship between developers and console makers, is an important one. SE will stick with Sony as long as Sony stays a super power and they continue to produce a good system. It is fairly obvious that SE is betting all of their money (except Dragon Quest) on the PS3. 2 FFXIII games are scheduled for PS3 release, KHIII is guarunteed to be on PS3, that FFVII remake might be on PS3 (I'm not positive if they have even confermed that it would be made yet, but I did read an article that said that they were considering it.) Sony also needs the heavy hitters like SE, to keep good games on their system, which turns into sales and popularity. SE could not put their money into any of the other systems because A. The 360 would be too much of a risk, because it is a failure in Japan, which means that even if SE started supporting it, it would be nearly impossible to fix the damage already done, which would be bad for SE in the end. B. they cant go to Nintendo because, the Wii is too untested and unknown to the consumor market, they can't tell how well that would play out. Sony is the most solid place to go, they know it will be popular in japan, and everywhere else, they know how it will behave, they know that people will buy it because it is Sony and is guarunteed to have good games on it, which means good SE games.

The PS3 is a lot like a modern version of the Neo-Geo. It's got lots of AWSOME technology, equipment that won't be seen on competing systems for years, and a cult-like following. It also has a rediculous price and is born during a (and is a major playor in) a media standard war. Who will win, Betamax or VHS- I mean, Blue-ray or HD-DVD?
The PS3 is the system I will buy... In 2011. When it's cheap and all the games are in the bargain bin, and I will be able to enjoy guns of the patriots. Till then, however, I'll enjoy my systems that are priced for the consumer in mind, not the system itself.

I agree with most of those points; however, no one can say that SE will indefinitely side with Sony; SE is very interested in Nintendo's innovative hardware, almost to the point of releasing non-spinoff games on a Nintendo console. I know it's almost surefire that SE will release all GOOD games for the PS3; the only game that would be in-question for me would be a Chrono game. It's very iffy whether it'll be released for the Wii or PS3.XPCportables wrote:SE= PS3.
