portable screen powering

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

portable screen powering

Post by humanman42 »

i have a screen that i got off ebay for pretty cheep. its for a car. it takes the 12v from the car. i ripped it open and saw that bassicly right after the 12v enters it, it gets dropped to 5v.

my question is this. Can i input like 4.7-5.5v without a high risk of hurting the screen?

also, do you think the screen will power on with that power?

If you supplys enough amps then yes. Are you sure it goes directly to 5 volts (like it doesnt go anywhere else before it gets dropped) If so, go for it and post your results.
