Need Help with getting New Video Card+New RAM

Well i am probally going to upgrade my familys pc so Im Looking for a PCI Video Card and some DDR RAM So i dont know what to buy and about the RAM the computer can only take 1GB at the max so ya this is gonna try to be a gaming rig so ya and the total price range is like $500 but post if it is above still. Here is My PC The Compaq Presario 6370US so Help Away.[/url]

I don't think PCI video cards are that good. Are you sure it doesn't have an AGP slot? I think it is better than my computer, so it should have an AGP. Could you post your computer specs, that page doesn't show anything for me.

If The slots are under Expansion Slots then all i have is a PCI Slot

You might have to remove that to get to the AGP slot. Open it up and see if there is a slot above several similar slots (PCI) that is further toward the front of the pc. In your case it should be occupied. Post a picture of the insides if you can't tell. I'm pretty sure it does have AGP, it is better than my Compaq that has one.

Look on newegg.com I know that they have a Geforce 6200 PCI card. If not that then ATI has it's Radeon 9250 with video out. I own it and it play Half Life 2 decent.

Ya im looking to be playing Battfield 2 and maybe Oblivion and other stuff i cant think of right now and if anybody could suggest some ram that would be helpful.

If you look REALLY hard you can find Radeon 9550's and GeForce FX5700's for PCI slot. I don't think you can get any higher than that.

If you are wanting to play good games like that you are going to need a card that is better than those, you will need at least a 6600GT for Oblivion, I have mine overclocked and it runs alright on some pretty bsaic setting, if you want better than that, and for you rprice range I'd try and find an APG(because almost all computers have them) 6800GT or something like that, maybe even a better one, 7400(?) ish I dunno. Ram is pretty cheap, try and find some OCZ ram 1gb 512 mb dual channel ram, I got mine for like 160, and spend the resyt on the card. I'm at school right now, but I'llt ry to find you some links to some to buy.

Like the one guy said, you probably have to take out your existing video card to get to the AGP slot, if you look in the case they are alwasy at the top, and usually brown, while the PCI slots are white, it is also a larger slot I think.

If you don't like either of those, remember eVGA, it's a good cmopna,y and they have a nice warranty on their cards where if you decide you want to upgrade your card in like the next 90 days or so you can return it, pay the difference and get a better card. It's a short time for that, but it could be useful.

So yeah, I'm trying to rush right now I'm supposed to be going backt o class right now, so yeah, hope this helps.

That was me.

The AGP is about the same size as pci, but its moved more toward the front.
