What should I buy?

Post by madc0w »

So basically, my summer job of lifguarding is paying pretty well, and I have lots of hours, so I want to play some leet things for myself. There are a couple things I've considered:

GP2X: This one is pretty high on my list. It's cool, small, and I can pay for it in less than a week of work. The only problem is that I wouldnt want to take it to school or anything (my ipod got stolen and now I'm paranoid) So the portable part may be kinda pointless, though it would be nice on car rides and such.

Compy for myself: I don't really have a good compy for myself, so I'm considering making one. I already have a graphics card I would use, and a cd drive and cables. I could also use one of the cases and psu's I have laying around. This could be expensive or cheap for me. I have a plan to make my mom pay for half, so if she did, i would probably do it. BTW, does anyone know a cheap and good cpu and mobo combo for webbrowsing and light gaming?

Psp: This one is pretty unlikely, but I'll put it out there. Might be fun to play some Liberty City Stories and Lumines.

Portables: This is one I would like to do. Buy myself a nice battery and screen, maybe some bondo, build a nice NESp/FAOCp.

Nokia 770: Basically same reasons as GP2x, but more expensive.

Other: please specify in post

Help me decide! (mod can you make this a poll??)

This is more of a F42 kind of thread. ;) Moving...

Go for a decent computer; you'll probably get more use out of that than anything else.

Sorry, I thought since it was a question, but w/e, your right.
Thats what I was thinking. I would use it a lot, and it would be all mine, so I could do whatever the fudge I wanted to do with it.

Make yourself a nice portable NESp. You get Super Mario Bros on the go, and you get that great feeling of making something yourself. :D
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

i want to spend money in the 200-400 dollar range, laptop is a tad too expensive right now, and I have a pretty old one thats fine for webrowsing, and I'm going to get one from my parents for college, in three years.

You seem to have left out the other major option: Nintendo DS! I'm sure it was simply oversight

I'd go for a PC, since they are much less specialized and can be used for just about anything (schoolwork, games, internet, and most things the other options can do)

Did it get stolen when you were right there, or was it in your locker? If someone stole it and you knew who but couldn't get it back, I'd suggest getting a weight set and workout so that you can beat the person into giving it back. But since your a lifeguard, you should be pretty strong already.
I'd say get a computer.

I already have a ds!
Also, the ipod was stolen out of my backpack, by this really big ass black guy. (it was at 6 at night in a random place, and I saw him like fifteen minutes walking around before i found my backlpack ripped apart)
It was kinda my fault though, for being stupid enough to leave it in another room. I am actually pretty damn strong, I'm going to be on the jv football team.
I'm thinking gp2x, upgrade to my junky compy project and some random other stuff. Though that could change by tomorrow.

I would've let him keep it, too. :D Just as long as it wasn't a stupid wimp.
