Erasing a Memory stick

nevermind, anyway I was putting some pics on my psp while running a a live CD, then I looked on my PSP an they werent there, so I looked on the memory stick.. not there, wiped the memory stick, and it still showed the used MBs! So what on earth should I do?

Return the memory stick.
Or if you have other memory sticks, try another one and see if it works. If it doesn't you may consider fixing it or getting another psp.

I was more thinking of a program/tool that could just go in and wipe everything on the memorystick out, I dont realy waht to deal with returning it

reformat it lol its not that complicated formating erases it and repartitions the disk

Not really. Reformatting only get's rid of the FAT allocation table, thus your files are all still there (even though they can't be seen). To be sure that they are actually gone, you have to do a full wipe.

Also, partitioning is different from formatting. Partitioning is dividing the hard drive into seperate logical drives, which are assigned other drive letters. For example, you may only have one hard drive in your PC, but it can be divided into C:, D:, and E: logical drives.

In fact, formatting does remove everything as a new FAT table is written to disk, and everything else is zeroed out.

I think you must be confusing it with partitioning, which only modifies the FAT table and MBR, but leaves the files intact.

Ah, i'm thinking of quick formatting (format x: /q), which is the only kind of format I do anymore.
