Speakers

I know nothing about electronics. Well next to nothing except a few simple definition about what things do.

I have some logitech speakers that I got with my pc and the left one, containing the PSU, is like 50+ degrees Celcius. Is this normal? They are not exactly huge power hungry things. They are only like 8 inches.

yeah it probably has a regulator in it. they get hot.

okey. Do I ned it more than 4 inches from my monitor? Its crammed there lol. Anything I can do to stop it getting so hot? Other than an icepack on top lol.

Is the monitor CRT or LCD, If it's LCD your fine, CRT may be "iffy" depending
on exactly how big the speakers are but usually for any normal-sized computer speakers that's fine. If you put them there and there's no distortion in the picture your probably good, heck my kid brother put his against the monitor casing with no (visible) ill effects. By the way I'm just talking from experience not academic knowledge so be ware.

EDIT:

Anything I can do to stop it getting so hot? Other than an icepack on top lol.

USB fan?

Think I would try to find better speakers lol.

Its LCD. I was thinking LCD would be more succeptable. Besides, the speakers have magnetic shielding. Which I suspect may be the great conductor of heat inside. i dont see any distortion but its mostly a white background all the time so

I do believe I left it on right next to the monitor anyway. However I cant tell whether its this or th ePC that makes the room so hot

Only CRT monitors are susceptible to magnets. It's because the image is drawn with three electron guns, scanning at 60hz (or whatever your refresh rate is) and they are aimed by a deflection yoke, which is basically a fancy electromagnet. So, any other magnets in the vicinity will cause the electron beams to miss their targets and distort the image.

LCDs are completely different, so they don't have a problem with it.

Your speaker probably just has cheap circuitry (inefficient power supply probably.)

I know that LCD screens are Magnet safe. I was more on about hte heat causing the screen to warp in some way. I assume that they are more succeptable to heat than old CRT. Good old CRT's. i remember when I used to draw blue on it with a magnadoodle
