Best unusual NES game- poll kinda

Post by arfink »

Hey, I wanted to make this a poll, but it would have been too hard. I want to hear everyone's picks for your favorite unusual, unreleased, or japanese only NES game. As for me, I have a few picks, like Sqoon, Ganbare Goemon 2, and Gekitotsu Yonku Battle.

It does not matter if you have never owned the game, just if you think it is an awesome and little known NES game.

Hmmm, never tried Bird Week, Ill have to see that one. That other one, with the 3d guy, I think is called World Runner 3d.

Joust is alright... But the sounds get kind of old. Also, try out Super Mario Bros. 2.

Mother, same, mother! Hard as hell, actually! but great! Way harder than the watered down "mother 2" aka "Earthbound"

Snake Rattle n' Roll. Definitely a weird concept for a game but damn good with its isometric 3D, good music and gameplay.

SMB 1 & 3. You can't deny the 1337N355 of Shigeru Miyamoto.

I don't know if you guys know this, but the Famicom game mother was localized for the US and was never released! I have the ROM, and its all over the net, sometimes its called Earthbound Zero, but that is a hack to make the ROM work in Nesticle, which is seriously the worst emulator I know of. So really, the SNES Eartbound really should be known as Earthbound 2.

Oh yes, anyone ever tried Sqoon? It sounds stupid, but I really like it. Also, if you know Japanese, Metal MAX is an awesome RPG with a post-apocalyptic theme and really neat grafx and sounds. I don't know enough Japanese to do anything in that game, but its still pretty awesome.

I played a horror adventure game called "sweet home" for NES. It was pretty cool, but I really didnt get that far.

Ps: (I imported mother 1 + 2 ) for GBA and will definitely want to buy mother 3 if/when it comes out in europe.

Well, Mother of course. Can we count pirated games? If so, my vote goes to the Super Mario World NES clone and Kart Fighter, a NES clone of Super Smash Bros.
