The batteries in my mouse ran out.

I have this wireless optical mouse, see... The batteries totally ran out. (I thought 1.2v 2500 mah batteries would last longer, dangit!) Is there a way to hardwire it to a usb cord in such a way that it would power it without batteries? Using the keyboard for everything sucks.

Either do the Arnold Mousepad Charger Mod or recharge those alkalines!

Yeah, I know a way. You can put a 3v regulator on a USB cord and put contacts on the end of some cardboard tubes. Or you could open it up and put a mini USB connector in with that stuff and wire that up with diodes (the same way you would do a portable) so that when your batteries run out, you just plug in the cable and keep on pointing. I can't exactly walk you through it without access to your mouse thoughâ€¦

What is the current draw for it anyways?

Edit: ok, if you wire up an LM317 regulator as soâ€¦

you'll get 3.13v out. Probably will power the mouse just fine.

If you can, try to stick it somewhere in the mouse where it won't interfere with normal battery use. Don't forget the diodes!

Or buy 4 rechargable batteries (assuming the mouse uses 2 batteries) and have 2 in the mouse, and 2 in the charger.
