New Super Mario Bros (REVIEW)

Post by MESAJARJARBINKS »

New Super Mario Bros (I think i will just say NSMB for the rest of this little review)

Well...today after much pondering i got NSMB and i made it to the final boss.Just saying im not 100% done as there is TONS of stuff in this game.
That being said let me begin my review.

Gameplay: classic mario bros side scrolling action. You can now do double and triple jumps.Although triple jump is near useless as almost everything can be reached by double jump. The controls occasionaly feel "slippy" especially when dashing and stopping quickly. You can use L and R to pan the screen left or right. The most common enemies are koopas. The bosses are generaly easy. If you remember Super Mario Bros 3. The game had little mini castles left and right. Same goes for this.
Only they are towers. You no longer get items as easily and must find coins in order to go to the mushroom houses.

Gameplay gets a 4/5

Sound/Music: Mostly its classic mario music. but the twist is almost all of the tracks have been "remixed". They all sound slightly diffrent. I never am good at reviewing sound so im just going to give it its grade and move on.

4/5

Difficulty: Some people complain that this game is far to easy. That is not the problem in itself. The problem is that the game gives you lives left and right. For instance i died maybe 20-35 times during the game and I never got one game over. I was able to finish the final boss with 26 lives remaining. The times you face bowser are almost too easy. They act just like the original bowser from the ORIGINAL game. Bowser junior is like that koopa guy (forget name) you fight at the end of every mini castle in super mario bros 3. Although he never flies.

3/5 for difficulty...

replay: very high replay value. Tons of extra stuff, minigames, coins, levels and a secret character who REAAAAAAAAAAALY shouldnt be a secret if you note the title.
4/5

Graphics: The background reminds me of super mario world and super mario bros 3. Like those and you will like the bg. The character models are a unique look . 3D mario on 2d background. Doesnt sound good on paper but the outcome is suprisingly intresting. However i would have prefered classic all 2d but with good graphics. But thats just me.

4/5

Overall:

NSMB is a highly entertaining game and will give you hours of fun.
while the story is short. If you want a game that will take a while to get
100% compleation on and have fun doing it-this is it.

New super mario bros gets 4 super shrooms...out of 5.

1) hes a stupid fricken idiot

2) if you read the bottom part, about xplay, theres more. he was just to ignorant to realize that to make a message outside a quote, you have to take it out of the [ /quote ] thing.

That was completely uncalled for. The quote and edit buttons are very close together, and it's easy to accidentally click the wrong one. I've done it once or twice myself.

But then again your name is: Metroidfan :D
I haven't really played metroid hunters to be honest but I've heard that it is damn hard to control, Mario isn't.

It depends what you're looking for. If you'd prefer single player, then SMB is for you as that's basically what the whole game is. Single player on Metroid is pretty bad, and gets tedious during and after every boss battle. However, if you want a good multiplayer experience, its Metroid hands down.

So basically, if you want to play by yourself, go for Mario. If you want to play with others, choose Metroid.

The controls in Metroid are rather responsive, somewhat similar to a keyboard/mouse when it comes down to accuracy thanks to the touchscreen. Then again, the side-scroller versions are superior anyway, so why bother? :P
