midi to mp3/wav

As the title sais.......i need a free program that can convert midi files to mp3 or wav. All the ones i use just record via my mic. Help?

Install Audacity and set the recording source as "Stereo Mix". (It's a drop down box in the top right of the window.)

Hit record, then open the MIDI file with whatever you use.

After the song is over, go back to Audacity. Use Audacity to remove the silent parts (just select and press Backspace on the keyboard.

If you want to export as an MP3, you will have to install the LAME MP3 encoding .dll into the Audacity folder. It's not too hard; they have instructions on their website. Without it, you're limited to WAV and Ogg Vorbis.

You may want to experiment with the media player's volume. You want the waveform in the recording software to fill up as much of the bar as possible without clipping (the loud parts hit the top and/or bottom and get square tops); clipping sounds lousy. However it will sound just fine of you adjust the media player volume properly.

Doesnt work. It keeps recording with my mic.....argg....also, how can you capture video from a window on your desktop? I've done it before, but i forget what i used. It stored the pictures (as frames) in your memory and then it compiles it into a video after your done recording.

I have this program called MP3 Audio Sound recorder and it can record any sound going trough your sound card. It's pretty neat though the trial version only lets you record a minute.

Sammy, Audacity does the same thing, except for free. Of course if you accidentally cause Windows to make a 'click' sound, then you've got a click sound in your recording, and you've gotta do it over again

I had audacity too but I wasn't able to record stereo via Line-in, which was possible with Free MP3 Recorder. Or was it just my ignorance?
