Need battery pack for PSOne portable

ok... Looked at other posts and foudn this...

Does anyone think 6v will power the system and LCD at the same time... They do need 7.2v... anyway, it states at 500 mah current, it would last 14 hours... well, Psone WITH LCD drain approximatly 2 - 3amps... How much is that in mah? And, how long you think it would last? what about this fairly less battery?

mah stands for milli-amp-hours. 1 amp = 1000 milliamps so if you have a 2-3 amp draw thats 2000-3000milliamps. for example a 4000mah battery can provide 4000milliamps for an hour, 2000milliamps for 2 hours, or 1milliamp for 4000hours, you get the idea. good luck!

Those are nicd batteries too, so I'd steer away from them. Also, you can use 6V if you replace the 7805's in the psone and psone screen with ldo 5V regulators.

The regulators in a Psone are 5v... And whats wrong with Ni-Cd?

Ni-CD have a memory and so unless you drain it to nothing then recharge it it will remember the spot you charged it from as zero. Ni-MH and Li-ion dont have this problem and they have a higher capacity.

Yeah you can fix it by zapping them its dangourous but I built my zapper out of and old asbetos toaster

If it is a PSone then yes you can connect 7.2 volts directly to the power input. However if it is a Playstation (the big gray ones) you'll need to make a custom or buy a specal power supply that takes the input power and outputs 8, 5 and 3.5 volts, it also depends on the model you have what voltage it needs.
