isue with roms and back-ups

ok here i the deal I have a broken psone game

I want to fetch the ROM of the Net and play it thorugh my modded ps (or modded ps2 as it is, same thing)

anyway, How would I go about fetching the ROM and burning it to a CD that can be played ona modded console?

Is it as simple as transfering the data and burning it?

Or does it require a little more finesse?
