Japanese Style Room

Post by ValiantVenality »

Hello everybody! I have a very important question about my room. Ok, my mom said i could get new furniture for my room since ive had this furniture for a while. And I thought to myself I love Japan very much (i mean very very much!) and I think I should have a japanese style room. The only problem is......... im not really sure what a japanese kids room looks like (yes kids room. im only 11.) So can anyone help me on finding pictures or if you know off the top of your head what a japanese room looks like, please post here!

Tatami mats for the floor (woven straw) and a futon mattress like bed that rolls up and fits in a specially designed closet for those days it isn't hanging over the balcony railing to freshen up. Oh yeah, cut the size of your room in half for the true "japanese" bedroom. :)

Some potted bamboo would help, I know people that can't manage to kill it in the wild, so it should be a pretty robust potted plant.

i just recently remodeled my room. most traditional japanese style things are expensive! Instead of tatami mats i have those puzzle piece mats that are normally multicolored. I found some black ones at costco and just laid those out on my floor. my room is painted goldish on the trims and a dark green for the walls and a beige ceiling. I wanted to get a futon but money was an issue so i have these really comfortable cushions. if you i can take a picture of my room later on this week so you could get some ideas.

dont ever decorate your room with a theme. it always looks lame, and will look dated in two years. i reckon the jap look today is more minimilism based. just keep everything hidden and clean. go with whites and cream. goign with traditional will just look fake and tacky.

my room is sort of nice, but is also a bit of a stoner comfort zone. i rent so im not sure if cant paint or not. id like to design somthing on moi computer and project, trace and paint it. but i dunno if i can.

One sugestion, to save room. Install a Hammok to sleep on instead of a bed. Its good on your back and if you cats a good breeze it will be rocked to sleep.
